Meet our audiobook narrators for TO BARGAIN WITH MORTALS + audiobook pre-orders now open!
Not to bury the lede, you can now officially pre-order the audiobook for TBWM on Libro.fm and Audible, and pre-save on spotify!
From the very start of the publishing process, I was adamant that I really wanted two narrators for this book. It's of course possible to have very well done multi-POV stories with a single narrator (hello Nikki Massoud on The Rook and Rose trilogy), but I really love a multi-narrator situation and I wanted different voices for Poppy and Hasan. R.A. isn't much of an audiobook listener so she was happy to let me have the strong opinion on that one.
But when you sell rights for an audiobook, you don't always get much of a say. A distributor buys the rights (in our case, Podium) and then production is in their hands to do what they want with. Luckily for us, working with Podium has been really great! They took into consideration our desire for a dual narrator situation from the very start and when it was time they sent a handful of auditions to R.A. and I and let us choose who we wanted, which was a ton of fun.
And as always, I have to say what a joy it's been to work with R.A. for the last year+ because we consistently have the same brain. We listened to the auditions separately and came away with exactly the same choices. So here they are...
Our female character narrator is Nikita Tewani!
Nikita is an NYU Tisch graduate who started acting in theatre before expanding to film and TV and is now stepping into audiobooks. To Bargain With Mortals will be her second book credit.
People who watched The Blacklist may have seen her as a young Meera in season 10.
And for our second narrator...
Our male character narrator is Fajer Al-Kaisi!
Fajer is a prolific audiobook narrator with at least 200 titles under his belt, including one I'd heard him in before, The Hundred Years' War on Palestine by Rashid Khalidi! The Ministry for the Future is on my libby holds currently as well, and some of you may have heard him in When The Moon Hatched. The man knows what he's doing! Interestingly, he was the only auditioner who sent us multiple options for accents and a thought on differentiating accent between dialogue and narration.
He's also a film and TV actor and Marvel fans may have seen him before in Daredevil, season 3 episode 1, as agent Nadeer's brother.
We listened and came to our conclusions on our narrator choices before we ever looked up who they were and their other works, so it was a fun surprise to "meet" both the people we wanted to cast once we finally looked them up.
SO THERE YOU HAVE IT! The audiobook is on its way and will be released the same day as print and e-book, October 28.
I know for sure it's available now for pre-order on Libro.fm and Audible, and you can pre-save it on Spotify. I don't see it up on Audiobooks(.)com yet, but I'll let you know when I do.
TWENTY SIX DAYS TO GO!
P.S. fun fact, I just found out yesterday that the audiobook is available for Libro.fm's October ALC's for booksellers. I DON'T EVEN HAVE AN ALC YET! (ALC = Advanced Listening Copy, an early release of the audiobook)
brb emailing the team to get my hands on one for myself.
