COVER REVEAL!! RELEASE DATE!! SYNOPSIS!! AHHHHHH!!!
It's a big day for The Archaeology of Falling Worlds by Megan Chee
SURPRIIIIIISE! IT'S COVER REVEAL DAY FOR THE ARCHAEOLOGY OF FALLING WORLDS BY MEGAN CHEE!
And cover reveal day always comes with a TON of news, so along with our incredible cover I also have the release date, the official synopsis, and links for you to add the book on Goodreads and even pre-order it if you're so inclined!
So let's go in that order. First up, I am so pleased to show you the cover for Archaeology, illustrated by Shan Jiang with design work by Charlotte, our head of design here at Bindery:
WHAT DO WE THINK?? The colors! The city! The debris! Frey! The giant mushrooms! The little robot guy on the sign!
I can also now tell you that this book will be on shelves February 23, 2027. Catch the official synopsis here:
Cyberpunk 2077 meets Studio Ghibli in The Archaeology of Falling Worlds, a cyberpunk sci-fi epic exploring class inequality and migration in a multiverse on the brink of extinction.
In a dying multiverse, survival demands sacrifice.
Starga is a vibrant city built with technology and magic from a thousand unreachable worlds. Here, people and creatures from across the universe fall from the sky with no memory of their past. What lies beyond Starga is a mystery, because nobody is able to leave. And with more beings arriving every year, its resources are at a tipping point.
Frey has a knack for turning abandoned debris into underground treasure, but she's eager to rise above her life with a Lower District gang. When they coerce her into one last job in exchange for her freedom, she can't say no. In the desert wastelands that surround Starga, Frey collides with Alasar, a naive archaeologist, and the two make a shocking discovery: the newly fallen Silver, a sentient, shape-shifting worm whose lost memories have the power to change their entire world. Now they must wrestle with an impossible calculus: protect Starga at any cost? Or risk everything they've ever known for an uncertain future?
The Archaeology of Falling Worlds is a compelling exploration of what makes an imperfect world worth saving—and a brilliant new vision of sanctuary and survival on an intergalactic scale.
IT'S A BIG DAY, EVERYONE!
If you use Goodreads, I would so very much appreciate it if you would add Archaeology to your Want To Read list while we're here, too. Those of you who were here for Bargain's journey will remember and those who are new will soon find out, Goodreads adds are, like...stupid important in publishing. I'm dead serious, they're so much more important than you think. I'll talk about it more in the coming months, but along with pre-order numbers they're a huge indicator of interest in a book and can dictate bookstores stocking (or not stocking) a title when it releases.
And speaking of pre-orders, IT'S UP FOR PRE-ORDER NOW TOO! I will be extremely annoying about pre-orders until February, so for now I will leave it at...if you're pretty sure you're going to want to buy this book (I hope you do!) then now is a fantastic time to pre-order it and not have to worry about it again ;)
(also, you will notice at that link that we are now distributing with Simon & Schuster! Exciting!!! This landing page doesn't change anything about the publisher, it's still Skies Press under Bindery Books. It's just that S&S is our distributor now instead of Ingram, which is actually a very big and cool deal on the back-end industry side of things.)
And finally, a reminder on Subscriber benefits, because they've changed since our last release! ALL subscribers will be getting an ARC [Advanced Reader Copy] of Archaeology months ahead of release (we're anticipating 3-4 months). Inner Circle subs will be getting digital ARCs, while Producer subs will be getting physical ARCs. If you've been thinking about re-upping a subscription, now is a great time. I'll also make sure I let y'all know when the deadline is to be subscribed for perks like ARCs and having your name printed in the Thank You section of the book (a Producer benefit).
With Bargain, the subscriber benefits were finished copies of the book a few weeks pre-release, so I wanted to make sure y'all remember that we've changed it up a bit this time.
Okay, I think that's all for right this moment. You will likely see me sharing this cover reveal both in video form and as a static image in various places today, and if you're on socials I would so, so appreciate it if you would share the posts! It's going to be a long day at my computer and my phone. Wish me luck!
